Crazy; ingenious; amazing and why-didn’t-I-think-of-that? Yep, it’s that time of year again — the Dyson Award shortlist has been drawn up, and needs your vote.

The budding young brainiacs, having been whittled down from over 550 entries, are battling it out in three categories including Medical, Home and Developing Countries with entrants from around the globe. Highlights include the AMO arm, a thought controlled replacement arm; You better drink tea, a teabag and spoon in one; and the Airdrop, which pulls moisture out of the air for drought ridden climates. Sorted.

The Sir James Dyson himself will pick the final winner on the 8th of November and to the victor go the spoils, which in this case means a tidy £10k for the student and another £10,000 for their University’s department.
