The World Solar Challenge for 2011 concluded over the weekend, with only seven of the 37 competitors completing the 3000km journey from Darwin to Adelaide. Bad weather was the big cause for the drop-outs -- a bit of an issue for solar power.
Teams from Japan, the Netherlands and the USA finished in under 36 hours in the top three spots. The UK had two teams in the mix with Cambridge and Durham both entering and ending up 25th and 33rd respectively, having failed to finish the race distance. Better luck next time chaps.
