Church Reconsidering Internet Investments, Due to Porn

By Gary Cutlack on at

Did you know the Church of England has a £5.3 billion investment portfolio? And some of that cash is invested in ISPs? Which means the Church is therefore inadvertently funding the nation's addiction to hardcore porn.

This odd money trail has led the Church's Ethical Investment Advisory Group to think again about investing in internet companies, as the religious folk are obviously more than a little bit against the idea of hardcore porn being streamed to everyone's houses at ever faster rates.

Apparently the Church has "tens of millions" invested in various ISPs at the moment, which may change unless the providers follow through with their plans to implement some sort of opt-out clause for adult material and make more of an effort to clean up their act. [Telegraph]
