Our Brazilian brothers, Gizmodo.com.br, got their hot little hands on a few photos of the new iPhone, to be announced next week. How? Well, there’s a Foxconn factory in Brazil, and Pedro & co got one of their men inside.
Inside, they found a new-SKU iPhone that looks just like the old iPhone 4.
Most of these photos don’t look like anything special—just snapshots of a familiar face. But when you get to the last one, a picture of a Foxconn Brazil quality control form, you’ll notice something strange: a different model number, N90A. This has already been rumored to represent a cheaper version of the iPhone4.
These particular phones won’t be hitting any shelves anytime soon though—they didn’t meet Apple’s manufacturing standards. Gizmodo Brazil editor-in-chief Pedro Burgos tells us that, though the note scribbled in the “reprovado” (“disqualified”) section is hard to read, he’s pretty sure it says “lenses sent.” Now what the hell does that mean? Who knows. It might have something to do with the camera lens, or maybe that’s an aberration on the screen shown in photo 4, on their site.
Still, this is good news for those of you wishing for a more affordable iPhone. For the rest of us eager to get our hands on a next-gen iPhone with some tricked out hardware, we’ll just have to wait till Tuesday, when Apple will hopefully announce its new hotness.

Android iPhone Gets Go-Ahead in Brazil
I thought the 4S was supposed to be just upgrading the 4 to a dual band CDMA phone, which doesn’t really mean much in the UK?
Rumours suggest it will have an A5 as well.. I mean, why not.
Additionally, that leads on the suggest only the 4S, and 5 will get the new Assistant feature.
I have somehow not heard of assistant could you fill me in?
You can talk to your phone to do tasks and it will talk back to you. E.g.
You: Text mum can’t make dinner on Sunday. Sorry.
iPhone: Text mum on work or mobile?
You: Work.
iPhone: Text has been sent.
It apparently also works for making bookings, emails but is just a rumour at this point.
It will have a A5, 8MP camera, 1GB ram also, if rumours are correct.
With iMessage the more people who have iDevices the better so this is a good thing.
If the rumours are true the same applies for iAssistant or whatever it will be called.
I dunno, I’m sticking with WhatsApp for now. The group chatting abilities, and Geotagging are awesome. I have a group chat called Gaming Soup with my “crew” of gaming buddies.. Lame.. Maybe.. But it’s the easiest place to talk about stuff like that.
I’m kind of hoping that Apple will announce both the iPhone 4S and the 5. I’m really looking forward to something visually different, cus i’m not too keen on the current design of the phone.
Really I find it quite attractive though I must admit I used to like the heft of my Iphone 3g
Apple wants to rule the mobile world so the 4s will most likely be a way of achieving this! Cheaper, available to all networks and still better than all the those Android phones!
What else did Gizmodo Brazil’s man on the inside see then?
Is there any point in an iPhone 4S when the iPhone 5 is supposedly coming out anyway?
I mean those looking to get in on the action will be able to pick up an iPhone 4 for a lot cheaper when the iPhone 5 is released, and those looking for the latest hardware will inevitably go for the iPhone 5.
I’d say I’m quite technical and to me the iPhone 4 feels nippy enough for me to give the 4S a miss and merely go for the iPhone 5 if I need something more.
I’m guessing it’s to do with the price of the thing.
If it’s a cheaper iPhone I assume it would be just under the 4 but above the 3GS and I know some stores still offer the 3GS on cheap contracts.
There is bound to be people out there who want the iPhone but cannot afford the 4 let alone the 5, I can easily see this new 4 replacing the 3GS in the cheaper contracts.
Plus a use for all them iPhone 4 bodies laying around now they seem to have stepped back to a more 3G design sadly.
Except, the iPhone 4S has better parts than the iPhone 4, therefore it must come above it.
I just think people would be more inclined to go for the even cheaper iPhone 4, especially when it’s far from obsolete.
It’ll be interesting to see how they price it nonetheless, but I will most likely be picking up an iPhone 4 when the price drops even LOWER after the release of the 4S and 5.
It has better parts? I heard it was rumoured to have a smaller memory….something like 8gb, so I guess I just assumed it would be under the iPhone 4 in a technical aspect.
But I agree, unless Apple have some major secret they are going to reveal with the iPhone 5 I can’t see it been that big of a upgrade like it was between the 3 and 4.
Really, though the 4g design is attractive as previously said i took a liking toward the 3g with its curves and weight, to me the phone felt more substantial.
I agree in the hand the 3G works well. But just on a design point I loved the sudden change Apple took with the 4.
Personally I think it’s a gorgeous piece of design that could easily hold itself with some of the classic designs of electronics from the past.
Still maybe my opinion on the 5 might change once official pictures come out, But I guess there wasn’t really anyway for Apple to take the 4 design next besides larger or smaller.
Who’d want an iPhone 4 for less when you can have an upgraded 4S for less?
Made in Brazil makes a cheaper iPhone than Made in China? Really? Now, that’s news!
