Why should Batman be the only one with a cave underneath his house? A London 'Mole Man' showed what's possible by excavating an 18 metre long cavern beneath his £1 millon house.
The Mole Man, William Lyttle, a retired engineer took 40 years to create his underground layer in Hackney, north east London, before being evicted from his crumbling abode by the council in 2008. Gone are the days when a person's ingenuity was rewarded. Then again, it did leave the house totally unsound and I don't think the neighbours would have been too impressed. The house is now up for sale, foundations filled in and everything, should you want a run-down shack for £500,000.
