Napster Dudes Working on a Chatroulette-Style Service

By Kat Hannaford on at

The time has very much passed for Chatroulette (pictured), but according to Napster co-founders Shawn Fanning and Sean Parker (immortalised in The Social Network), a video-chatting service with social networking profiles is The Next Big Thing. Called Airtime, investors include Ashton Kutcher and Will.i.am.

So far, so wanky, right? Though you could argue that the video-chat Hangouts section of Google+ is the only reason for wanting a profile on the site, so maybe Fanning and Parker are onto something here.

Speaking of Google, they're actually getting involved in Airtime, with TechCrunch reporting that the big G's Vice President of Location and Local Services Marissa Mayer has also invested in Airtime. [BBC and TechCrunch]
