I’m super excited for iCloud but I’m still wondering what the hell I’m going to do with my two separate Apple ID accounts: my original one, which I made to buy stuff on iTunes—and still use to buy apps—and then the MobileMe account that Apple forced you to make as a separate Apple ID.
I just want it all to work together, dammit, especially since I paid Apple money for all this stuff before they decided to make it free. One account, all my info, all my apps. Just give us a heads up. I think my annual fee bought that much, since sometimes I feel like it didn’t buy that much else.

Suprised there are no comments on this article. This is a real bug bear for me and it’s really frustrating that Apple seem to be ignoring it as an issue. I still remain hopeful that something will be done, but with the public launch of iCloud upon us and no sign of any developments I’ve lost faith that it will occur during this opportunity.
I just want to merge two App Store accounts, or at least have proper support for having more than one.
My wife and I both have iPhones. We started with separate Apple IDs to separate App Store accounts, but we sync to the same iTunes library so we still get to share apps and tunes regardless of who actually buys them.
But it means you have to faff about logging in as each other to update apps.
Now with iCloud we probably want to share some stuff, but not others.
I don’t need all her contacts, just some of them. She doesn’t want all my geeky apps, just the ones she likes. We have separate email so I don’t want to sync hers. I don’t want all her photos syncing to my phone, but it might be nice to have some. Etc etc.
Can’t see Apple offering any solution to this.
There is an FAQ with the facts at http://www.apple.com/mobileme/transition.html – luckily i’ve used my Apple ID for iTunes – very annoying for those that haven’t
i’m having the same issues, how can I use facetime linked to my old apple id and sync with .me, there doesnt seem to be any support for this issue which I can immagine will get hilighted by the end of the day when everyone else recieves ios5
This is very annoying. In the most part, because I’ve paid sixty quid a year for a while for a pretty buggy service – having to renew because of the need to keep my email address.
Shouldn’t be difficult to implement.
Never really understood why anyone used MobileMe?
Seems like everything it did you could do for free. All except Find My iPhone, which they then made free anyway.
while signing up to iCloud, i was asked if i wanted to merge my apple id and primary email address into one, which i did; so now when i log in i use my primary email not my previous apple id.
i don’t have a mobile me account, but wondering if you had the same primary email address for both (or put ur @me.com as your primary), would that effectively merge the two?
I heard it was because apple would have to setup a separate department if they allowed this, as it would be required a lot in divorce cases.
Another +1 here – Apple can be annoying sometimes.
