Ouch. That Top Gear TomTom you were after? Yeah, you better scramble quick-smart. The BBC has pulled permission for the use of Clarkson’s voice, as it might be seen as an endorsement — something the BBC isn’t allowed to do.
TomTom had reportedly jumped the gun a little bit, shipping some 54,000 of the PNDs to stores before the Beeb had finalised the deal. Thankfully TomTom’s not being forced to pull the units from stores, but all profits will go to Children In Need and you can bet you won’t see anything like it again. Give us a shout in the comments if you’re a fan and managed to actually get one — and how much you’re selling it for on eBay. [Electricpig]

I don’t think the BBC pulled permission, otherwise TomTom would be taking legal action regarding the contract, more likely TomTom and Clarkson did a deal thinking he was a free agent, and he isn’t – the BBC never gave permission nor can they. This is what happens when twot meets twat, you jump the gun and get shot in the ass.
But whenever was less Clarkson a bad thing?
Yeah, Clarko is a bit, well, overwhelming sometimes.
I love clarkson dearly, but he’d do my nut in if he was in the car 24/7.
