Two things. One, we’re going to need a lot of hand sanitizer if Microsoft is right about the all-touch-everything future. Two, I’m surprised how much I like Microsoft’s vision—it’s futuristic, natural and metro-y.
It’s not quite as bold as the US network AT&T’s predictions back in 1993, because this Microsoft video focuses more on the productivity side of life (don’t worry, not everything is about computers! Hopefully there’s nature hidden somewhere). But if Microsoft is even half as accurate as AT&T was (AT&T was swinging with a .900 batting average in those ad spots), we can expect paper thin phones and tablets that merge seamlessly with the rest of our lives—car windows as AR, kitchens powered with Surface, cards to help jobs, touchboard calendars and more. The thing that amused me the most though? How there was still a physical keyboard in the video (I’m totally down with that).
Now get started Microsoft. I want this future. [YouTube via TechCrunch]

Hmmm, that video has 315 views and 674 likes.
I’m guessing you don’t use Youtube much, or, at least don’t subscribe to anyone?
If a video becomes popular when it’s just uploaded, the view count freezes somewhere in the 300s, but the like counter updates regularly.
What is it with futurists and their weirdly opening car doors- we’ve tried it before and we know what formula works best!
The Koenigsegg way? Anyway, pretty sure suicide doors are getting more and more common, Rolls Royce being the most famous example. (I used Rolls Royce and common in the same sentence herp derp.)
Did I spot a keyboard? What about self lacing trainers? I think the future will be more like minority report! You will have a transparent wall, this could be your window, mirror and screen all in one. Transparent screens are about, they just need to get bigger whilst incorporating touch and motion control!
So the future is a slimmer iPhone, a bendy iPad and a 3D iMac
But it will run windoes 95 (2095).
But still no hover board from Back to the future.
I find myself sad that I still have to look up a recipe in one of those… paper, thingys.
Looking at the current design of Microsoft Office, this future is impossible.
“You mean you have to use your hands? – That’s like a baby’s toy!”
I’ve seen something very similar from MSFT a few years ago at an internal work tech conference. The MS rep said they’d be releasing something that would destroy the iPhone, ha ha.
