Looks like Operation Cartel has split the Anonymous collective with some backing down over real fears of reprisals from the Zeta drug cartel, who recently hung two bloggers and decapitated a social-media reporter as a warning to 'online snitches'.
In an 'interview' with Milenio, two collective members said that the operation put Mexican Anonymous members at risk and therefore they were moving to dismantle OpCartel. Meanwhile Sabu was adamant that the war on the Los Zetas was still on and in full force.
Considering that the Zetas aren't likely to take any form of attack lying down, and that they're not afraid of making a point in the most bloody way possible -- I wouldn't blame Anonymous for deciding that they'd bitten off a little more than they can chew. I have a feeling this is going to get messy. [Milenio (Spanish) via InfoWorld]
