It’s that crazy time of year again when Amazon goes sale-mad for a week. The date is set for 21st – 25th November, so make sure Chrome is up-to-date and your mouse wired in. Up to 80 per cent off? This could get ugly. [Amazon UK via Cnet UK]
I never knew the UK got black Friday deals? The Us Giz always used to make jealous around this time of year! This is the big reason for me wanting a UK Giz. thanks guys.
Do any other companies participate in black Friday?
The January sales have been slowly creeping forward over the last few years such that many shops in the UK now have pre-Christmas sales. Black Friday is an obvious next step in this.
I got some good deals last year, an mp3 player being the pick of the bunch. Would’ve gotten more if the net connection at work wasn’t so damn lousy that I missed out on a few bargains.
In my experience you have to be really quick on the click. Last year it helped to have the latest dev version of Chrome up and running as it was a lot faster at processing the java script and other bits and pieces Amazon used for the countdown mechanic. Last year I managed to snag a Leatherman for cheap, was pretty pleased. Probably not the most in-demand item though I guess.
Looks like, with the 15 minute time limit to purchase, they’ve learnt from last year. People were grabbing stuff they clearly didn’t want and then rejecting it hours later. ‘Twas (can use twas now it’s close to Christmas) a shambles.

Managed to snag a PS3 for a friend last year on the finale, but I must question, why Amazon are you doing the sale the week before I get paid?!
