Have you seen a Gas Giant wandering aimlessly through space? Our solar system might have lost it while dealing with some dynamic instability 600 million years ago. It might be blue, is probably big and is believed to be somewhere deep in the Milky Way Galaxy.
Not to be confused with Tyche, which may or may not be hiding/captured in the Kulper asteroid belt along the outer reaches of the Galaxy, this nameless planet was first noticed missing yesterday when the Southwest Research Institute revealed data from simulations showing the evolution of planetary orbits only make sense if there was a 10th (9th? 11th?) planet hovering around in the solar system all those years ago.
If you have any information regarding the whereabouts of this unnamed, theoretical planet, please contact the Southwest Research Institute. [SWRI via Wired Science]

That’s funny, I felt like I’d lost a giant gas planet ths morning.
What a coincidence.
It’ll be in the last place we look
Stands to reason, if it was in the 1st place we looked then it wouldn’t be lost, then once we find it in “the last place we look”, it would be silly to continue looking elsewhere for something we have just found.
But I would imagine it is quite common to lose planets in the formation of a galaxy, as I guess forming an active galaxy is a fine balancing act over billions of years. I’d be more surprised if the matter in our galaxy added up after all those years of forming workable orbits.
…I’m thinking he was being funny
