Google Informs Wave Users That It's "Sunsetting" From January

By Kat Hannaford on at

Google Wave's death has been foretold for nigh on a year now, but finally Google has sent out the death certificate to users of the service. I received the above email today, unbeknownst I was actually signed up to it. (And, err, someone remind me what Google Wave is, again?)

I doubt we have even one reader who is sad at the demise of the collaborative software, but just in case, you should know that Google Waves will be read-only from January 31st next year, and the service will be shut down completely on April 30th, 2012. That gives you several months to export data using Google's PDF export tool, and start using similar services such as Apache Wave.

Has anyone found a few stray tears rolling down their cheeks upon receiving Google's mailout this morning? [Google Wave]
