The search giant sent out invitations to an event in the US for November 16, which will also be livestreamed. The invite states that “These Go To Eleven.” A reference to the Spinal Tap joke and a clue that it’ll be talking about it’s Google Music service.
It’s speculated that Google will introduce Google+ integration and the ability to purchase music directly from Google. Unfortunately, according to CNET Google has yet to secure licensing deals from the all the major labels. If Google does intend on taking on iTunes, there’s a good chance they’ll be hashing out the licensing details over the weekend — but will we see it in the UK before Christmas? As someone with a Google Music account (invitations still available if anyone wants one) I am assuming that payment for music will be via Google Checkout and you won’t need to prove you are in the US (which I’m obviously not) each time you buy something.As it stands you only need to fool the system once when you first sign up (easy if you know how to us a proxy).
