Let Out Your Daughters -- Julian Assange Loses Extradition Appeal

By Gary Cutlack on at

Loose-lipped, silver-haired lothario Julian Assange has lost his appeal to stay in the UK, and will be extradited to Sweden to face trial over alleged rape and sexual molestation charges.

Assange's most recent legal case saw him trying to overturn the European arrest warrant that was issued for him over the Swedish sex claims, but two high court judges have today ruled the warrant should stand and that Assange is therefore legally obliged to return to Sweden over the next few weeks.

It's not the end of all hope for Assange to remain in the UK, though -- there still may be a slim chance of an appeal to the Supreme Court if lawyers believe the case is of "legal significance."

In the spirit of openness Assange would no doubt approve of, the full ruling is available online here. [AP via The Register]
