Midata is Your Pre-Packed Personal Data Report

By Gary Cutlack on at

The UK government and a collection of the most aggressive data-gatherers out there have announced Midata -- a new way for you to easily request and see all the various data the big corporations currently have within your files.

26 companies have signed up to this initial launch, including Google, Lloyds, RBS and Visa, with the ultimate aim of the scheme to "benefit the economy" by boosting competition between the companies involved.

The benefits for us lot should be easier, quicker access to all our data, which will come back in an accessible form we can submit to an alternate company. Like having a PAC Code for the rest of your life. [Midata via Wired]
