According to supposed-moles mining in Apple's Asian supply chain, Apple has signed up both Hitachi and Sony to create 4-inch iPhone LCD screens, which will apparently become available next year. Will the larger-iPhone rumour ever die?
Japanese site Macotakara, which brought these new rumours to light, is also claiming that Sony and Hitachi's panel-manufacturing businesses will merge with Toshiba Mobile Display Co. Ltd to become a new company called Japan Display next year.
Jumping to 4-inches from the current 3.5-inches doesn't sound like much of a stretch when every other manufacturer has XL-sized phones in their ranges, but that extra diagonal will mean a world of change when typing or gaming. Considering stories of a larger-screened iphone just won't die, I'm beginning to think there must be something in them. Do you think we'll ever see a 4-inch iPhone? [Macotakara via AppleInsider]
