With information on more than 350 Scottish clans, the 69p Scottish Clans iOS app attempts to put a little bit of Scotland in your pocket. But it's attempting to do more than that -- it wants to chart the Scottish global migration.
The app, which was launched today to celebrate St. Andrew's Day, packs more information than you'll likely need on each of the clans, including the all important tartan, family history, chief and crest. It also includes a registration system, which is intended to record the locations and spread of Scots throughout the world. The developer, ScotClans' eventual aim is to map the Scottish Diaspora, which the Scottish government is also pretty keen on, that will allow Scots to connect to their homeland and to each other -- no matter where they are.
As an Englishman, I can't really speak to whether the app or the developer's plan is any good or not; but if you're Scottish, wield an iPhone or iPad, and have 70p to spare, let us know in the comments what you think. [iTunes]
