As if the tablet-based controller concept of Wii U wasn't bonkers enough, Nintendo is also considering bringing crazy touchscreen nonsense to the original Wii, revealed by a patent for a strange clip-on Wii Remote touchscreen.

The full patent, shown over at Siliconera, shows a cross-section of the adaptor, which uses a mirror to turn the Wii Remote's motion sensor into a rudimentary touch controller. This bonkers idea might give Wii U buyers a cheap way of accessing additional touchscreens, for odd multiplayer games, also opening up new novelty control systems for Wii titles.

Or it might just be one of Nintendo's vague idea sketches, doomed never to appear in a finished product. [CVG]
