The Roku has been the darling child of many an American media-streamer, but now it looks like we'll get to have a play too. Roku's announced plans to expand into both the UK and Canada, complete with region specific channels.
The little media boxes-of-tricks are cheap, costing around £40 to £60 depending on the model, and stream all sorts of things including Netflix in the US. Roku's got over 350 streaming channels of music, video and games, including Angry Birds, should that float your boat. The company said that it's expanding its local channel offerings, so hopefully we'll see BBC iPlayer, ITV Player and 4oD channels pop-up; and of course LoveFilm and Netflix, once that gets here. Seems everything is launching in "early 2012" these days and the Roku is no exception; should make for an interesting post-Christmas period. [Roku (PDF) via CNET]
