“Hotels around the world have it, so why wouldn’t we?” is what Michael O’Leary, boss of budget airline Ryanair, says about in-flight porn. Joining the mile high club might be about to get a lot quicker and easier.
Obviously, the concept of having soft porn blaring out from the back of every seat is a little much, even for Ryanair, so this would be done through letting us use our smartphones as receivers, so we can put the blankets over our heads for enhanced privacy.
Ryanair’s plans are much wider then the headline-grabbing porn angle. The planned entertainment app would work on iPad and other “smartphones”, offering personal access to the usual array of in-flight movies and TV shows, plus games and all the usual flight information.
The plan is apparently dependent on Ryanair securing a decent in-air broadband provider, to keep it all working. [The Sun]

Ryanair giving yet more customers a reason to avoid their airline. I doubt many people want to be stuck 2 millimeters away from some guy watching pornography on a cramped plane. These people need serious therapy if they think it’s a good idea.
Also there are likely to be children on the plane. How the hell are they going to deal with the possibility some child will be in viewing range of this stuff?
Does that mean they’ll start providing blankets? Last time i was on a Ryanair flight there was not a blanket to be seen!
Also, unrelated but was a WTF\LOL moment – Last time i was on a Ryanair flight a Ryanair rep tried to draw a comparison between bringing an extra item of hand luggage, (which was bought in duty free i might add) to the Lockerbie bombing!
I’d have thought providing a sock (just one) would be more appropriate.
Best to save it for the 1-2 hour coach journey from where your flight lands to where you actually want to be!
This porn stuff is blatant headline making to get the wider fact that they’re going to provide some entertainment in the news. No chance it’s going to actually happen…
