Sky is planning to launch a standalone Sky Movies mobile app, which will introduce stacks of new editorial content, trailers and more, alongside traditional schedule listings.
The Sky Movies app will hook up with the existing Sky+ mobile features, adding remote record functionality, while Sky is also promising integration with its existing Sky Go app, so users will gain on-the-go access to its subscription film channels -- as long as they're subscribers.
The extra editorial stuff will consist of reviews farmed in from third-party sites, while it'll also feature cinema listings for your local area, much like Sky's own Movies site. The app will launch first on Apple devices in the next few weeks, with Sky promising an Android release early in 2012. [Techradar]
