After launching in the US, it may come as no shock that Spotify’s paying subscriber numbers are up — managing to top 2.5 million subscribers up from 1 million in March this year. Not iPhone-esque sales numbers, but not too bad. [Spotify]

Sky Launching PAYG Streaming TV Service for Non-Subscribers
It’s a shame Spotify are giving none of that to the artists, that helped them become that popular.
What do you mean? They pay the artists every time their song is played….
Actually, Spotify was operating at a loss not too long ago…
If you wanna blame anyone for them not paying indie labels, look at the “big 4″…
They are giving money to artists but publishers are bitter that they are not giving enough. Streaming music is in high demand and the quicker they accept it the more benefits they will start getting from it. Spotify helps music discovery and ultimately it will help artists but they need more paying members. Instead of hindering new and innovative solutions to listening to music they should embrace them and look for new ways to monetize.
How is Spotify related to iPhone sales numbers? Is that the benchmark nowadays?
