Starbucks is at last bringing its one-touch iOS payment app to the UK. From the 5th of January next year, coffee lovers will be able to link their Starbucks card to the Starbucks iPhone app and pay using the on-screen barcode.
Since its release in the US in early 2011, it’s become the fastest way to pay for coffee. One in five UK Starbucks customers already pay for their coffee with the Starbucks card, but whether the UK will take to it the app as well as the Americans have, remains to be seen; but it could help relieve the queues at the Occupy protest at St. Pauls.

I assume that the identical Android app will also be made available in the UK?
Having just been in Starbucks and used my Starbucks Card this is a great idea that’s nice to see coming to the UK. Personally I use a card rather than carry cash (a pet hate of mine). If retailers like Starbucks would adopt contactless payment technology I’d prefer to use that everywhere.
Fingers crossed for a W7 App, just got my Samsung Omnia 7. Phone of beauty I tell you!
