Toshiba’s got two entries into ultrabook category on their way to the UK. The Portégé Z830 and Satellite Z830 should arrive here by late November and set you back from £899.
The duo are both 13-inchers with HD LED displays. Of course they pack either an Intel Core i3 or i5 Sandybridge chip — their ‘ultrabook’ qualifying credentials — with 128GB SSDs and your choice of 4 or 6GB memory. Unfortunately they’re saddled with Intel’s pretty anaemic HD3000 integrated GPU, but then you’re unlikely to attempt any serious gaming action on an ultrabook and it’ll do alright with video playback.
Prices start at £900 for the Satellite and ramp up to £1320 for the top-of-the-line Portégé. Intel’s ultrabook segment is hotting up; let’s just hope that Toshiba makes a better stab of the trackpad than Asus managed. [TechRadar, Toshiba]

Sounds decent enough, but with ‘ultra’ in the name you can’t help but expect them to contain more somehow.
Yeah, the price tags also give you reason to expect more. The Zenbook was a good first attempt, but I could never use one long term without a mouse.
Mainstream manufacturer jumping on Apple bandwagon (again) shocker…
