Still looking for somewhere to get your over-the-top TV without the likes of Sky or Virgin? Sony’s just let loose a load of TV shows for purchase in the UK on its PlayStation Network. US TV shows are available in SD for £1.49, with HD setting you back another quid.
Highlights include 24, Arrested Development, South Park and Two and a Half Men, but season coverage is, apparently, spotty at best. Whether you’re likely to pay £2.49 per episode, even if you do get to keep it, is questionable. Were are the 99p HD TV show rentals that would totally revolutionise the TV model? Considering you get a whole month’s worth of unlimited streaming from LoveFilm for £9.99 a month, and with Netflix incoming early next year — the thought of buying TV shows just seems a bit antiquated. FROM £1.49…
Gimme all series for £10 ea in high def and expandable memory on the PS3 to a couple of TB and we’ve got a winner. from £1.49 EACH isn’t going to solve anything.
Yeah, i don’t think the price point is right yet, considering most US shows can be up to 24 Eps a season, it’d be the best part of £36 just for the Standard Deff versions.
I’m waiting for a service that is value enough to stop me using eztv.it, isohunt & transmission. I’m happy to pay, just not that much seeings as there are usually 5/6 shows a week i watch.
yeah it would be cheaper to just buy the DVD boxset, and you get all kinds of extras with that.
Also how quickly do we get the episodes once they air in the US? do we have to wait until they air in the UK, or even longer?
£1 per HD episode with the dvd/bd boxset being made available at a large(ish) discount. That would get my attention.
Does anyone actually re-watch TV shows? I mean, I wouldn’t ever buy episodes if I could just rent them. Unlike films, I’m never going to re-watch them.
I do. Bad Example.
I am waiting for £1 per HD episode!! than i will buy all the TV episode.
