Those of you who bought into last year’s Nexus dream should have had an exciting day of tinkering yesterday, thanks to Google launching an update that takes the Samsung-made Nexus S to Android 4.0.3.
Given that the Nexus S comes with capacitive touch buttons, you can completely get away from the Ice Cream Sandwich version’s on-screen software buttons, freeing up a little more screen space on the ancient (in smartphone years) 4″ Nexus S screen.
If you’re all confused by the new widgets and menus the update brings, there’s a simplistic guide to the many exciting differences between 2.3 and 4.0 on Google’s Nexus S help site. [Google]

Mine hasn’t updated yet, but looking forward to having ICS even if it doesn’t make a massive difference. I love the phone anyway
If you are of the rooted/hacky nature there are instruction for doing the update manually online. It will be interesting to hear from people using ICS on a phone that wasn’t made for it as it’s quite a jump from Gingerbread.
Mine hasn’t come through yet either. Looking forward to something a bit more fresh, change is always good, one of the reasons I got rid of my iPhone.
