Looks like RIM’s finally getting with the program and adding Wi-Fi hotspot capability to its phones with a BlackBerry OS 7.1 update.
That’s not all though, BlackBerry 7 will also integrate the long promised BlackBerry Tag, so that you can finally use that NFC chip that’s sitting dead in your phone for something useful, like sharing BlackBerry Messenger pins.
Updates to BlackBerry Travel and Traffic will also be rolled out along with an overhaul to BlackBerry’s Universal Search. Curve 9360 and 9380 users will also get the added bonus of an FM radio, as the update will activate dormant chips within the two phones -- sneaky RIM.
Updated apps for BBM, Traffic and Travel will hit the BlackBerry App World soon, while the OS update will have to wait for carriers to get their act in-gear -- could be a while yet then. [TechRadar]
