I used to work in a Sony Centre- we actually had an incident in one of the stores once where someone came in and nicked 3 42″ plasmas from the front of store display!! (this was back in 2004 when they weren’t exactly light either!)
I had a friend who worked as a security guard at Sainsbury’s and they had a spate of thefts of flat screen TV’s.
They couldn’t work out how it was happening as no one had seen anything, leading them to think it was staff. Even after clamping down on staff comings and goings they didn’t stop. When they checked the CCTV some guy was just walking in, picking them up and walking out.
Apparently people just assumed he had bought it because no one could possibly have the balls to just do that, so it didn’t even register with them!
That is why is is called a con, it is all about front, you show the confidence and nobody asks questions – I know someone that walked, unintentionally, out of a big store with a patio heater without paying, after pushing it around for half and hour then pushed it past the tills and into the car park, nobody stopped him, got to the car and then came out of a trace, and realised what had happened.
Not a big fan of corporate virals, but I got to say, it does work nicely – good creative team at play, for a near-zero budget video – anyone know who made this?

At only 4mm thin, the new LG OLED tv’s are going to be a theif’s dream item..
It’ll still be 55″ wide though. I wonder if anywhere around here does 55″ pizza boxes?
Well you could hold it from top to bottom, under the arm or over your head, if it’s 4mm and light weight it can’t be that difficult to carry. I have a 50″ inch LG plasma which is much heavier than the oled will be, that would not be to difficult for someone to take without consent.. As for 55″ Pizza, if you find one, i hope you plan on sharing!
