Is a Samsung Galaxy S II HD Coming to the UK?

By Sam Gibbs on at

Either someone’s made a right balls-up, or Samsung’s got a non-LTE-packing Galaxy S II HD on the way for the UK. Mobi-city, a relatively new online mobile phone store, put up an ad on its front page for a “bigger, better, newer version of the popular S II” with a “larger, higher resolution screen and more battery power”.

The US has had a 4G-variant of the Galaxy S II HD since December, which the specifications from Mobi-city’s site seems to match up with, minus the LTE of course. With a 4.6-inch 720p screen; a dual-core 1.5GHz processor; a NFC chip; 1GB of RAM, and the same eight megapixel camera as the ordinary S II -- it sounds appealing, in a non-mind-melting kind of way. Unfortunately, it’ll apparently come packing Gingerbread, but there’s hope of an Ice Cream Sandwich update, even if Samsung doesn’t officially support it.

I still think I’d plunk my money down on a Galaxy Nexus, but if you’re after a big phone to compensate for something, it could be a winner. Maybe. [MoDaCo via Recombu]
