Shortly after announcing some terrible financial data including a predicted full-year loss of around £370m thanks to aggressive hardware price-cuts, Nintendo’s president revealed a launch date for its Wii U console. The crazy tablet hybrid will arrive in the US, Europe, Australia and Japan in time for 2012′s Christmas consumer bonanza. That’ll fix everything. [Reuters]

Nintendo's Wii U Will Have Netflix and YouTube
Nintendo Boss Performs Amazingly Precise Surgical Wii U Unboxing
A Nintendo Wii U Is Your 'Mario In Eye-Bleeding Detail' Deal of the Day
Really it has better cost less than £149, as you would be better off buying a PS3.
I’d still go for the Wii U. At least that way you get some decent platform only games AND your credit card details will be safe.
Congratulations for being internet dickhead of the year. Do you want to buy some magic beans?
You know that no creditcard details we taken by the PSN hack right?
You’ve got a serious attitude problem. Do you treat everyone this way, or just from the anonymity of the internet?
That first line is, quite possibly, the most ironic thing I have ever read!
And as for you claim, I made no reference to the hack whatsoever and any link you made are entirely of your own making. As you raise the subject and claim that no credit card details were taken – according to Sony releases in both the US and the EU, information taken during the hack included names, passwords, billing addresses, purchase history amongst other sensitive data. Billing addresses and purchase history are classified as ‘credit card details’, at least in the UK under data protection laws, and thus the hack did indeed lead to the loss of some credit card details. Even Wikipedia managed to be more accurate than you.
And I’d still go for the Wii U, especially if it can play Wii games.
Creditcard details were never taken, and no fraud has ever come to light.
Do you really believe everything the sensationalist internet rabid dog reporting media tell you?
The reporting of the PSN hack really was the low-point of tech reporting, where because Sony couldn’t tell what had and had not been accessed for several days (due to forensic analysis taking time), the internet media just filled in the information gaps with whatever crap they felt like.
Even the BBC were guilty of this, and the result was confusion and panic with people cancelling cards, despite banks advising them NOT to.
Sounds to me like if you already have a PS3, you might as well just buy a Vita, as it will do exactly the same as the Wii U, but you won’t have to buy all your games again, and it’s a new platform that’s pushing forward, not a catchup to where the PS3 was in 2005 console like the Wii-U is.
Wait, unless you bought all your games from the store and not on UMD you’ll still have to buy them all again for the Vita.
Firstly I was basing my statement on press releases from Sony itself and the laws in the UK about data protection, not on the reporting of the entire situation on the internet or any other news medium. I never stated credit card numbers were taken, but Sony itself stated that billing addresses were taken and this, in the UK, would constitute ‘credit card details’. Nor did I state anywhere that fraudulent activity relating to these credit card details has ever been publicised or proven. In a statement sent to US users of the PSN from Sony, they were advised to cancel cards, as were some UK users (I worked with one such person).
Secondly, “creditcard” isn’t a word – the phrase ‘credit card’ is actually made up of two words referring to a card upon which purchases can be made on credit, therefore I’m sure “creditcard” details were not taken.
(The above may read as slightly condescending, and that is entirely the manner in which it was intended)
Condecending is the right tone to have in this instance, Udimion.
MikJe has never backed up his own sensationalist commenting with anything that comes close to proving or shoring up his ‘facts’, or as I loosely term it, his ‘delusional opinion’
If he was a journalist, he would never be published unless it was his in own newspaper!..
This is just typical MikJe, if it’s not on his little list (We can add Playstation and Android to that) then it’s to be ridiculed along with anyone who doesn’t agree with him.
Wouldn’t of thought It’d be cheaper than that. Especially considering the controller. Unless thats separate. And nintendo isnt about releasing with cutting edge hardware.
Well seems E3 will be the show to watch then, see if they announce a price and what games on launch day.
Not really heard anything since the initial showing.
£149, are you having a joke? The 3DS is worth that much. The PS3 is last gen, this is next gen. Anyway, Nintendo has said that they won’t go the same route they did with the 3DS pricing, so expect 200-250ish. Considering it has a 6.2″ screen and still uses WiiRemote
