O2 Asks For Promo Vouchers Back After Christmas Cock-Up

By Sam Gibbs on at

Over Christmas, O2 thought it would get in with the seasonal cheer and offer free £20 vouchers for new customers who sign up for some of its phones. Unfortunately its claim-back system went tits up and fired out multiple vouchers to some lucky chancers. Now it wants them back.

The vouchers were redeemable in Boots, Argos, Amazon, Next or Pizza Hut, but customers had to log onto an O2 website to claim said vouchers. Apparently the system was so complicated many couldn’t figure it out, but in reality it was borked from the start.

In an email sent to TechEYE, a representative for the O2 Voucher Team said:

"It appears on our system, that you may have received multiple sets of £20 vouchers from O2 for the Christmas Promotion. We are asking that customers please return these extra vouchers; but keep the vouchers you were entitled to."

It’s a bit late in the year for the kind of Christmas spirit O2’s hoping for. I’d be amazed if anyone was honest enough to send any back. Don’t you know it’s impolite to ask for gifts back O2? Especially when it was a cock-up on your end that spat out too many vouchers. Anyone for Pizza Hut tonight on O2? [TechEYE]
