It's that time of year again where rumours and early leaks are rife with everything hinted for unveiling at the upcoming CES in Las Vegas. Asus is apparently prepping a mini version of its much lusted-after Transformer Prime and a cheaper Android tablet to take on the budget sector, both to be shown off next week.
Notebook Italia has it on good authority that Asus is working up a more "pocketable" 7-inch variant of the Transformer Prime that'll come packing a keyboard dock just like its bigger brother. There's no information regarding the internals, but if Asus manages to squeeze out a 7-inch tablet with the same quad-core internals as the Transformer Prime it could be onto something truly stellar here.
The slightly less exciting prospect of the 7-inch Eee Pad Memo (possibly pictured above) is said to feature just a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon chip clocking in at 1.2GHz, while storage pegged at between 16 to 64GB should easily cater for a flight's worth of movies for that 1280x800 resolution screen. There's also reported to be a 3G version, and a 3D version -- just in case you want to take your eye-strain-inducing watching of Avatar on-the-go.
While we're still waiting to get our hands on the Transformer Prime in the UK, we can only but wait till January 8th for the kick-off of CES 2012 to see whether Asus really does have a potent 7-incher up its sleeve. [Notebook Italia via Ubergizmo]
