Readers, I know you’re intelligent. You know the average person doesn’t swallow eight spiders each year; that the Great Wall of China isn’t visible from space, and that cracked knuckles don’t result in arthritis. But some of your friends are probably dumb, so show them this.
Put together by C.P.G. Grey, this video debunks ten common misconceptions in rapid fire. If you know your stuff, you may not learn a great deal. But, it is entertaining and, perhaps more importantly, might make some of your stupid friends shut up about drinking eight glasses of water a day. You’re welcome. [C.P.G Grey]

Big Al says Dogs can’t look up… Can you debunk this please Mr C.P.G Grey?
As if 8 spiders were not enough. this will keep me awake 5 minutes longer tonight.
Cheers for that, I’ll never sleep again.
#1 is bollocks. This “fact” was given new life by a writer called Lisa Holst to prove how bullshit spreads over the then-new (to most people) internet and is soon believed by millions.
I say given new life, because it first featured in a list of myths published decades ago. Long forgotten, Holst chose it as one of her candidates.
I thought the myth was that you only ever use about 10% of your brain at ANY ONE time which is believable as even those brain imagery missions seem to only show around 10% activity. The last one about spiders was a surprise, I was expecting them to say that we don’t swallow any!!
Wikipedia has a lovely page of loads of “common misconceptions”. I find the one about Christopher Columbus really interesting, in that the reason people didn’t support his voyage wasn’t because they thought the world was flat (apparently this was known amongst the intelligent community [wikipedia's words...] for ages) but because they thought he had grossly underestimated the distance to India (which he had)

I think the last one was a joke
What so this guy caught a couple of Episodes of QI?
Already knew all these thanks to Mr Fry and his Klaxon.
