There aren’t a lot of secrets left about Nvidia’s Tegra 3 quad-core mobile guts; after all, it’s already in the Transformer Prime. In fact, the only question left has been what other devices we’ll see it in.
Well, here’s your answer: a 7-inch, £160 quad core tablet from Asus. It’s 60Hz, all day battery life, and “the best camera out there,” according to Asus. It looks an awful lot like this morning’s MeMO, except with Tegra 3 running the show.
Nvidia also promoted a technology called DirectTouch, which is what that secret fifth core is for. It’s a “buttery smooth” touch experience, that the company claims is going to be far more responsive than a traditional touch experience.
I’m still not sold on that size as a form factor, but getting that much more horsepower for such a small price? That’s a might tempting proposition.

This is suppose to come out the box with ICS also! I also hear 1280X800 rez with a 8MP camera – ouch! All that for £160, well $249 which will more likely be £199-219 – thank God for grey market imports on ebay.
Undoubtedly Asus must be using some extra special secret sauce to out a tablet with those specs, at that price, or we won’t see it until the end of the year. 2012 is looking pretty exciting indeed
But why would you go for this when you could have a Amazon Kindle Fire with its 1024 x 600 pixel resolution, 8gb storage, 1Ghz dual core processor and custom Amazon UI?
If you pick this over the Kindle Fire or iPad, you’re crazy!
