Vimeo Has Just Reminded Me Why It's My Favourite Video Site

Giz's favourite video site, Vimeo, has just had the biggest lick of paint yet, hammering home the fact it's definitely the best place to find all those crazy timelapse videos and other arty concepty vids. Plus lots of cat videos. Lots and lots of 'em.

The redesigned site has a much larger video player; improved navigation; better privacy options; more discovery tools, and the ability to share videos easier, which is obviously one of those buzz-terms online companies yap on about for far too long around their salvaged schoolyard furniture, while simultaneously counting down the minutes until their next tryst with the artisan coffee beans.

Under the hood, Vimeo's been built using open web standards, meaning it's faster for us, and should allow them to push out updates easily. If you'd like to take a gander at YouTube's hottest rival, Vimeo's offering closed beta sign-ups to members who visit this URL http://vimeo.com/new. Back to hunting down random-bizarre videos we go. [Vimeo]
