Virgin Media has issued an apology about last night. The company's broadband service suffered a three-hour period of downtime yesterday evening, which effected users across the country.

The crunch came during the peak 5.00pm to 8.00pm home internet-staring-at period. No particular reason for the downtime has been given, with Virgin saying whatever it was is now fixed -- and also giving out the classic "turn it off and on again" advice to people who are still experiencing any lingering connection issues today.

Just remember you're about to get a massive free speed bump before moaning about it too much on Twitter. [Virgin Media via The Register]
