YouTube is once again teaming up with director Ridley Scott in the name of promoting film making, with the pair launching global contest Your Film Festival 2012. There's a prize of a £324,000 movie production grant for the winner.
The contest is looking for "story driven" films no more than 15 minutes long. Makers must be over 18, which is good news as it means the contest is unlikely to be won by a 15-minute declaration of undying love for Justin Beiber.
In June, 50 semi-finalists will be chosen by Ridley Scott's Scott Free production company, with the lucky 50 put to the public vote on YouTube. The 10 most popular from this stage then go on to be shown at the Venice Film Festival, where a jury, lead by Scott himself, will decide the winner of the £324k production grant.
