Sky has today announced an exclusive partnership with new mobile start-up Zeebox, with the features of the TV companion app set to appear in Sky's other mobile telly applications.
Zeebox is sort of a combination of TV listings guide and chat tool, which encourages users to not pay attention to what they're watching and instead chat with each other about nothing while shows are being broadcast. It is a bit like having Twitter open on your laptop while watching Countryfile.
The new Sky and Zeebox "Augmented TV" app is set to launch in the first half of 2012 and, as with Sky's other mobile apps, will integrate with Sky+ so you can easily set it to record the programmes you're simultaneously slagging off.
Sky's also bought a 10 per cent stake in Zeebox, so it's been something of an amazing ride for the little start-up -- which is lead by former iPlayer creator Anthony Rose. [Sky]
