The tablet revolution is well underway, and it won’t be long before we’re all saying things like: “Is that your tablet or my tablet?” and “Oh, I appear to have sat on your tablet and broke it. Here – have my spare one”.
Yes, as a nation, we’re becoming ‘tablet mad’ and here’s one that will allow even the most impoverished gadget freak to get a piece of the tablet pie without looking like too much of an idiot. It’s called the Ainol Elf and not only does it run Android’s Ice Cream Sandwich, but it also has a snazzy 1024×600 display. Best of all, you can have it for just £117 delivered, although you will find yourself saying: “It’s an Ainol Elf actually. Yes, an AINOL ELF. YOU GOT A PROBLEM WITH THAT?”

My only problems with this tablet are the fact that at 7″ it’s only 150% of my phones size (so not much of a gain in usability) and it’s unfortunate branding. Mind you, you can get 10″ tablets with similar specs for not much more.
I would change the title of this article to:
“7 nch ics packing android tablet for under 120 is your stinky cheapo deal of the day because I can’t afford to buy an iPad”
To say how much Giz does talk about the iPad then refer to it as stinky? I think you get what you pay for in general!
Oh sod off Taf, nobody thinks you’re rich and stylish with your iPad.
I planned to be neither, I guess it must have come to me naturally…
Agree that the iPad nice as it is doesn’t mean anything in terms of wealth and style, you need much more to reach such goals!
There you are. I was missing these “unbiased” comments.
Lol, well I do try my best to be fair, haha…
I think I have to try an make up just for you, not posted much due to a bery busy week or so..
I just texted my girlfriend to see if she was interested in Ainol; she wasn’t..
She wants my iPad one when the next version comes out.
Maybe if you used some of the money you would be saving to buy her this http://www.gizmodo.co.uk/2012/02/facebook-ads-turn-unsuspecting-man-into-spokesperson-for-giant-tub-of-lube/ she’d be more interested in the Ainol
Hahaha no amount of screen cleaner will make her interested in the Ainol.
That’s not screen cleaner
Nice find for those on a budget. Looks like it’ll have full market access, and the specs are reasonable.
For those who buy this and wish to have full market access (it doesn’t have Google’s marketplace by default): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7P-siFr_Qwk
So tempted to use it as an XBMC remote! (and browsing device for during the boring parts of the movies)
better go check on the funds
Why wouldn’t you just pay the extra £20 for the superior Ainol Aurora? http://gadgetfreakz.co.uk/ainol-novo-7-aurora-android-4-0-7-ips-tablet.html
Has anyone looked on the Ainol website (CAREFUL WITH THAT SPELLING PEOPLES!)? Their ‘strap line’ (pardon the pun) is, “Enjoy Life. Enjoy Ainol”. That’s the extent of the English text though!
I’m amazed no-one has used the “it’s a pain in the arse to use” joke yet. Just as an aside, you would assume someone at Ainol speaks English and has noticed the unfortunate resemblance of the companies name to … another thing.
So many Ainol Elf jokes, so little time…
