Design fans will have another few objets d’art to add to their wishlists after scoping out Alessi’s first-ever range of lighting solutions, which were announced today. Star of the show has got to be the Phylum lamp (above, £249), designed by Andrea Morgante, which is hewn from a single sheet of ultra-thin steel, folded and corrugated to represent a flower.
The fun bird lamps (£125) are part of the I Love Animals range, created by Italian art director Pier Paolo Pitacco. Covered in either plain or patterned fabric, the lamps pulsate with changing colours, or can be static on your chosen hue.
Mario Trimarchi’s La Stanza dello Scirocco All’Alba and La Stanza Dello Scirocco al Tramonto lamps come in either stainless steel (£229) or white (£165) finishes.
Made from rattan, the Campana brothers’ Amanita lamp looks like something you may find in a ’70s palace, but inside actually has two bulbs for three different lighting combinations. At £329 though, you’d definitely want to add it to your list of items to save in a house-fire. [Alessi]
