The seemingly endless litigation between Apple and Samsung continues with a report that Apple filed a complaint against Samsung in federal court this week.
According to PaidContent, the complaint filed in the U.S District Court in San Jose concerns two patents, 8,074,172 and 8,086,604. The first of the patents, “Method, system, and graphical user interface for providing word recommendations,” appears to cover Apple’s very nice, if frequently frustrating, autocorrect system. The second patent is called “Universal interface for retrieval of information in a computer system.” No word on what exactly the lawsuits allege or which Samsung devices in particular are under fire. We’ll keep you posted as we learn more.
There are ongoing patent disputes between the two companies in at least 10 countries right now. In December, the Northern California court denied Apple an injunction against Samsung in the ongoing lawsuit over design patents in which Apple alleges that Samsung “slavishly” copied the design of the iPhone and the iPad. The injunction would have forced Samsung to stop selling phones and tablets in the United States for the duration of the lawsuit. More recently, the EU said it would investigate Samsung over unfair trade practices with regard to patents. [PaidContent via GigaOm]

Samsung Is Really Suing Apple Over 8 LTE Patents
Trouble at the Top for Samsung, as Chairman Sued Over Share Rights
Carrier IQ, HTC, and Samsung Sued for Millions in the US Over Tracking
It looks like crapple purchased the patents last December with the specific aim to go after Samsung.
I think crapple are pissed that Samsung will not make or sell them TV parts.
My Bad they Obtained eg through the patent process not purchased
‘My Bad?” Is there anything wrong with the word Error, or Mistake?
Haha, Samsung deserve to be Samsued! They just copy apple too much, look at the galaxy products, don’t be blind now, blatant rip off..
Apple are just jealous that Samsung are making better products than them now.
Galaxy S2 > iPhone 4S
Will most likely be GS3 > iPhone 5 and Galaxy Tab 3 > iPad 3
I can see where you are coming from, but I disagree. Even though the actual hardware is better, Samsung has no idea what the next update will require from their devices, and requires the better hardware to future-proof their products. Whereas, with Apple because both the software and hardware is developed in house, it means that they know what effect the next update will have. It’s why the iPad 2 and iPhone 4s only have 512MB of ram. Also, the Android Market sucks. However, if someone put iOS 5 on a galaxy tab, it would be awesome!
Agree totally, iOS is the Asset for apple that others would jump on and abandon android for if Apple were to license to other manufacturers. A nice spec android device with shabby apps will still cause problems, apple have the full package which is why they sell more devices than any other manufacturer..
come on apple. stop playing whos got the better legal team and make some shit.

Or, more companies sue over FRAND patents and Apple eventually goes bust with all the companies taking their 2.25%.
Apple has the Assets that all others want in iOS, the app library and iTunes. Everything a smart phone user requires without major issues. Apple will continue down the path it’s going, continue to sell hardware at record levels, profits which continue to grow year on year whilst expanding its product range. Too many people, usually those with android devices that desire apple would like to see the down fall of apple, lets be realistic now, it not gonna happen any time soon…
Why would anyone with an Android device who desires an Apple device want to see the downfall of Apple?
You are getting more ridiculous every time type something
I think you should ask THEK, he is talking Apple going bust!
And yes, let’s face it, lots and lots of folk, have the office at work for example want an iPhone but end up with Android because of price. You can argue it but it’s true, Apple does not cater for the mid range or budget market..
I’m not sure why I can’t reply to you Taf, so I’ll comment to myself.
I think you just nailed it why Apple is losing so much ground so fast to Android. They don’t cater to mid range or budget market and other brands that use Android do. And let’s face it, there’s a HUGE market that Apple is missing. And people who buy budget phones will likely stick to what they have when they upgrade.
Couple of things spring to mind with that one; isn’t there an argument that mid/budget range buyers are less likely to even change at all… given than if they’re on a low budget, they’re unable to upgrade?
Secondly, when you say loosing so much ground; if Apple don’t cater to that market, how are they loosing ground?
If I sell apples and the bloke down the road sells oranges at a lower price, how am I loosing business to him? The people who will buy oranges because they can’t afford apples would never have bought anything off me… therefore I’ve lost nothing. The “market” appears bigger because you have two separate markets, which are being merged into one figure…
And btw, this isn’t meant to be an Apple v Android argument, I’m just curious.
I don’t know wtf is up with the comment system, but I can’t reply to you directly Calldean.
I get what you are saying but not everybody has a budget/mid range phone because they can’t afford a high end one.
I’m looking to upgrade my phone and will stay with an Android phone because I like it. If Apple had budget/mid range phones people might have given those a try and upgrade to a high end later.
You might not be “losing” business to them in that sense but you are definitely not gaining any either.
I hope you get what I’m trying to say here.
Comment system on here is like something from the early 90s.
True, however, most people (At least from my limited pool) tend to go for the highest/”best” they can… which most people tend to equate with highest price.
I do think that Apple are losing something, but I don’t think it matters to them; I think that A) They have a premium brand image and B) They make enough cash from only selling high-end stuff.
So now everyone is replying to themselves… Yesterday it was only me. Well if you reply to yourself, you may as well address yourself. It’s true most of the time I cannot see a reply option.
Regarding below comments to all.
I agree with Calldean, it’s not a loss if it’s something that you don’t want.
Also apple aims at the consumer who is likely to buy music and apps as this is profitable..
Regarding losing market share, in terms of splitting the market to High, Mid and Low range, I think you will find Apple outsells all other devices in the High end range. Also, why is it always Apple IOS v Android as a comparison, if you look at Apple vs Samsung or Apple vs HTC I think you will find Apple outsells the others in the Mobile and Tablet market.
Hope the above response is more to your liking.
Here we go again. So tired of this
Samsung: “Damn you Autocorrect!”
Who grants these patents, seriously!
Patents should be about specific things/inventions, never a universal way to do something.
The whole system is flawed, and Apple are getting more and more pathetic.
Compete in the market, not in the court room!
Apparently it’s not just auto-correct they reckon they’re responsible for, they’re also going after the swipe to unlock and voice control idea as well. Let’s hope Google realise Crapple have taken the drag-down notification for the 4S(uck) from Android….oh and inputting text by voice? Android had that since 2.2…pre-dating any form of Siri by a year and a half….oh and wire-free updating…yeah, counter-sue Crapple for that too while you’re at it.
So much for “Think differently”
PS while we’re at it Apple didn’t even come up with the concept for a tablet computer, they just gave it mass appeal through marketing. Google “Dynabook” and you’ll see the outline for a tablet with, guess what? The much-litigated multi-touch display that Apple claims to have thought up…and that was in 1972.
PPS I’m anticipating the Apple-drones’ predictable, Thats-not-true-because-Apple-didn’t-say-it response by offering this following URL http://www.osnews.com/story/22739/A_Short_History_of_the_Tablet_Computer
You know what? You actually have the beginning of some decent arguments.
Then you screw it over by being a dick; if you’re going to post something that is getting near sensible, don’t screw it over with shit like “Crapple” and 4S(uk).
