Torrent sites have been having a turbulent time recently, but that doesn't bother BitTorrent inventor Bram Cohen. Instead, he's insistent that peer-to-peer sharing is the future of the way we consume media.
According to GigaOm, on Monday Cohen demonstrated his P2P live streaming protocol at the San Francisco MusicTech Summit. We've explained his new idea before, and it should be capable of streaming live video across thousands of computers without any central infrastructure.
"My goal here is to kill off television," explained Cohen. He has his sights set on using the system for video conferencing, live streams of video game tournaments — or even live sports events. Let's wait and see how successful he is. [GigaOm]
