That’s it. The deed has been done — Sony Ericsson is no more. Sony’s completed its buyout of Ericsson’s stake and rebranded its London-based mobile unit Sony Mobile Communications. Snappy.
Now we can get on and enjoy more Sony-only phones like the Xperia S, which is frankly the best thing we’ve seen out of a Sony-associated phone for a while. Let’s hope Sony’s got something awesome to show us at MWC to wipe the SE memories from our collective consciousness. [Sony]

It’s the only reason I could see myself opting for a Sony phone.
They’re certainly in a pretty unique position in the industry to do this seeing as neither Microsoft or Nintendo are really involved in the hardware side of phones.
I for one welcome our new Sony Mobile Communications overlords.
I believe it’s called rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic. The way in which Sony has utterly wasted massive legacies such as the Walkman brand should be taught in business school: how not to utterly neglect your IP and lose billions down the drain.
