With the rampant rumour run of the iPhone 5 that lead only to the launch of the iPhone 4S, is Apple about to do it to us again and instead of releasing a fully redesigned iPad, will we get an iPad 2S spec-bump upgrade instead?
That’s what an anonymous Apple employee talking to The New York Times seems to be saying. The device that’s currently in testing is apparently the same size and shape as the iPad 2, but will include a “truly amazing” screen as well as improved internals.
Of course we know Apple gets people working on fake devices until they’ve proved they’re trust worthy, perhaps that’s the case here. Then again, the recent leak of the supposed iPad 3 back shell really does look a hell of a lot like the one mounted on the current iPad 2 right now.
Would it even matter anyway if it’s just an iPad 2S? Where’s Apple really going to go with its tablet design – a thinner bezel; thinner body; edge-to-edge screen, or maybe even buttonless? I’m betting people will buy it in their droves regardless of what Apple potentially busts out in March. [The New York Times]
