Is Orange Prepping an Intel-Powered Medfield Phone of Its Own?

By Sam Gibbs on at

According to a screenshot of a survey sent to Coolsmartphone, Orange is going to launch the Orange London -- a Gorilla Glass-equipped 4.03-inch smartphone powered by a 1.6GHz Intel CPU at its heart.

At this point I’m not sure if this is a work of pure fiction on the tipsters part, or indeed Orange’s, but the phone is also meant to pack 16GB of storage and an eight-megapixel camera capable of 10-shots a second and 1080p video.

There’s no word about the OS running on this thing, but a quick gander at the capacitive buttons on the render shout Android to me. I’d treat this as pure rumour until we see something more concrete – Orange could have just been trying to gauge consumer reactions to the potential of an own-brand Intel phone. Then again, Orange does have a propensity to bring out its own smartphones (you remember the SPV right?), so who knows – this could be the first Medfield phone in the UK.
