A Russian engineer was going about his business surveying the Siberian wilderness for roads when he came across what looked like a massive woolly mammoth trudging through the water.
At least, that’s how The Sun tells it. The bastion of quality British news consulted a paranormal writer who, of course, verified the video as genuine. I’m not so sure. It’s incredibly blurry, and I have to think that someone would have seen them if they were still roaming the wilds of Siberia. Besides, if you zoom in really close it looks like a bear carrying a fish.
My mind calls hoax, my heart hopes it’s not. What do you think dear readers? Ever wanted a pet mammoth? [YouTube]

I hope it is actually a Wolly mammoth, as I’ve never heard of one. Wooly mammoths are extinct, so a new-to-science Wolly mammoth would be quite a find!
It’s the chinese knock-off version
Ah yes, with Nylon fur and plastic tusks – known to floor predators with static discharge. The Wolly mammoth is a dangerous beastie!
Good god, If those poor Chinese factory workers are assembling these I’m not surprised they are having so many fires.
Actually it’s a bear with a fish. wouldn’t be surprised if the blurriness is post production, given the high ethical values of Rupert Murdoch’s papers.
It could be the one from Sesame Street..
Well check this link, interesting read, maybe its the Russians and the Chinese that have brought the Mammoth back from extinction…

I think it looks like a brown bear carrying a largish salmon in its mouth. But hey, I’m a pessimist.
The video says I have to decide. But I don’t want too. I don’t have any kind of zoology training. This seems like a lot of unsought hassle and pressure. Why can’t the Sun just tell me what to think like it usually does?
I’m open, it is a Woolly Mammoth Bear with a fish – if he had of taped it longer then we would know what it is when it gets out the water… but then would The Sun pay him for the full footage of a bear with a fish getting out the water, I wonder.
The only surprise regarding The Sun… oh forget it, I can’t even be arsed making a joke against the Sun or it’s readership.
By reading this, you are a Sun reader once removed – you may not have read it in the Sun, but it is their story written by someone with slightly more writing ability (you’re welcome Sam) and on a slightly more constructive and reputable site (you’re welcome Giz UK), but essentially you’re now a Sun reader through a Giz glasses.
Giz Glasses sound great, where can I get some?
Just don’t mix that up with Jizz Glasses. Two complete separate products, with completely different results.
You make me feel dirty
It would be wise for Gizmodo not to litter the Internet with rubbish from a bin, you wouldn’t be it in the streets, so why do it online?
It’s not the Mammoths you have to worry about, it’s the camp full of Giants that are herding them.
There used to be mammoths. But then they took an arrow in the knee.

Getting pretty sick of seeing this link posted. Once is enough, not all the damn time.
This is like an advert for SpecSavers.
I love how everyone suddenly has the worlds worst cameras to capture stuff like this… so obvious it is fake.
Looks like Snuffy of sesame street to me… You know the one that hangs around with that BIG Yellow Bird!
the heroine junkie?
Looks like a bear with a large fish…
I hear ‘The Sport’ said it wasn’t.
There are 2 things I’m certain of:
1) That is not a woolly mammoth.
2) I might of dated that once (or someone similar)
I’m not sure which is a more legit source. The Sun or the Onion news.
But yeah, looks like a bear…
