O2 has put an end to its Wi-Fi hotspot sharing arrangement with The Cloud, a comfortable little agreement which used to allow O2 subscribers to enjoy a bit of turbo-charged data access while out and about.
Up until February 1st, O2 SIM card holders were able to access the Wi-Fi services offered by BT Openzone, The Cloud and the company’s own collection of public access hotspots, but as from last week access to the internet via The Cloud is no longer allowed.
O2 helpfully suggests you re-register with The Cloud on a separate basis if you’re particularly attached to the sofas or brand of coffee in one of its Wi-Fi locations.
Or, if you’re a Sky subscriber, you can soon use your Sky credentials for access to The Cloud another way. [O2 via Reg Hardware]

Makes a change, it’s usually H2O that falls out of clouds.
Excellent point!
another change, sky is now in The Cloud instead of the other way round…
I wonder what this means for Tesco Mobile customers? I’m guessing they’ll get cut off from it too, as they use the O2 network, unless Tesco Mobile had it’s own deal going with the Cloud…
Wonder if this is related to the fact that Sky now allow access? Some sort of exclusivity deal maybe?
