The new iPad is on its way! We expect it’ll be pretty much like the last one – good-looking, fast, useful, but with a few features annoyingly absent and a £400+ price tag. Hmmm…
Then on the other hand, there’s the HTC Flyer. Made by one of the most reliable names in smartphonery, it’s a 7” tablet that’ll pretty much do everything you could ever want, except for spread jam on your toast (although we believe the HTC boffins are currently labouring 48 hours a day in order to make that a reality). Best of all, you can nab yourself a Flyer for the ridiculously low price of £197.90 delivered at the moment. Hell, you could even get two and lend one to your Apple-loving mate while he waits for his new tablet to be launched. He’ll probably end up forgetting about the iPad 3…

Without trying to sound too moany. These deal of the day posts could perhaps do with a little bit more polish. Today’s headline deal doesn’t have a link or a vendor (where am I supposed to buy this flyer from?), yesterdays was fine but Mondays missed out the price of the headline item.
I like the posts otherwise but they probably need to be read a bit more carefully before they’re published.
Here’s the HUKD link for anyone who’s interested

Sorry, the link is there, it just wasn’t showing up for some reason. Should be now though.
You can get the 9.7″ Cube U9GT2 for around £120 with ICS if you shop around, about £170 on ebay
It only has dual 2MP camera, who uses tablet camera for anything other than skype and the odd snap, but – 1.2Ghz, 1GB, 16GB and ICS. Ain’t the best tablet in the world but either is a 7″ HTC Flyer.

I’m waiting till after MWC and considering my options on the tablet front. I think that HTC may be cutting the flyers price now because they simply won’t be able to sell it after MWC.
I agree, if you look what is coming out of China for £100+ then you see that most mainstream products are currently under spec at the current price. I try not to advise people to hold off on technology but I currently find myself doing that with tablets, I think we all get the feeling that you are going to get the right device at the right price around Easter this year – and this time of the year is historical when we cut price the old stock for the up-on-coming models, wrong time to buy any technology.
thanks to your mentioning of the Cube I’ve found a whole bunch of cheap ICS tablets. I suspect we will see many more at MWC, including the much talked about $250 Tegra 3 tablet from Asus
I am loving these deal of the day posts. I’m quite a savvy individual and I’m very tempted on this.
Keep up the good work.
