Warning: The Olympics Might Break Your Internet

By Gary Cutlack on at

The government and the London 2012 organisers have put together a guide designed to help businesses get ready for the Olympics, warning we may see slower web connections and the odd complete failure due to increased demand.

The PDF titled Preparing Your Business for the Games talks about measures being put in place to help throttle demand for online services this summer, warning that "ISPs may introduce data caps during peak times" to help balance the increased load, also telling users to be wary of slower connections and perhaps even complete "drop outs" in web services.

The mobile networks also gets a mention, with the 2012 organisers warning that data downloads may be impacted as well. [London 2012 Preparations via The Inquirer]
